Operations Manager – April 2026
Family-Owned SME Business | Full Time | On-site Mulgrave Head Office
We are a long-established, family-owned Australian distributor/editor of fabrics, leathers, and vinyls for the interior design and commercial furnishing markets.
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in keeping the daily operations running smoothly.
It is a trusted, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys responsibility, learning multiple key admin functions, whilst maintaining a calm and productive office environment.
About the Role
You will be the central coordination point between the Office, Warehouse, and National Account Managers.
Over time, the successful applicant will become skilled at all key administrative functions ensuring the day to day processing of orders isn't impacted by staff absences through holidays or illness.
Scope for further management growth within the operation likely, as reputation, experience and knowledge of the operation grows.
This is an "onsite" role.
Key Operational Responsibilities
· Oversight of office administration and routines including learning all key admin & customer service processes;
· Credit control management and client follow-ups re payments etc;
· Direct responsibility of our admin staff team (6 members);
· Liaison with Warehouse Team and National Account Managers to ensure smooth workflow;
· Act as first point of escalation for operational issues;
· Ongoing review of all processes to improve productivity and efficiencies.
· Facilitate office maintenance, and liaison with key maintenance trades cleaners etc;
Reporting & Support
· Reports to the Managing Director and CEO.
· Mentored by the CEO, who is onsite several days a week overseeing Treasury, Board and Compliance functions.
About You
· Experience as an Office Manager, Senior Administrator, or Operations Coordinator;
· Expertise in Microsoft 365 based software;
· Confidence handling banking, credit control management, administrative and customer service functions;
· General knowledge and experience in freight and distribution, including warehousing and inventory management.
· Strong organisational and communication skills;
· Calm, practical approach to problem-solving across many different daily functions;
· Enjoys working with and managing a small group of skilled and experienced staff members;
· Previous involvement in SME or family business environment will be highly regarded.
· Australian citizenship is required for this position;
Qualifications
· Tertiary Financial and/or Business Management qualifications preferred.
Package

This is an onsite based role.
